Olympia Warriors started strongly and their passing and positional play worried their Eastern Shore rivals.

It took them a while to get the goal they were seeking, however, and Clarence were starting to get their measure.

Jacob Leaman finally broke the deadlock with a low shot inside the far left-hand post and Olympia led 1-0 at the interval.

Early pressure in the second half by Clarence was rewarded when Angus Hardwick netted the equaliser, also with a low shot after a neat build-up.

Olympia received a shock when Joshua Burgess then put Clarence ahead and it was all hands to the pumps for the home side.

Olympia managed an equaliser but it was a close call.

A corner from the right was directed at goal in a goalmouth scrimmage by Will Robbins and Clarence keeper Jarrod Bugg accidentally knocked it over the line before it was cleared.

Assistant referee Roan Gillam, himself a goalkeeper, indicated the ball had crossed the line, much to Olympia’s relief and Clarence’s disappointment.

Neither side could break the deadlock after that, despite some close calls, and the bitter rivals had to settle for a share of the points.

#1 You are right we spend the same amount on the men as we do the women.

I guess depth isn't worth the expense.
