South Hobart trained at KGV Park this evening because their home ground of Wellesley Park is closed because of the wet conditions.

South Hobart will meet Northern Rangers at KGV Park on Saturday at 4pm in a Victory League match and then Tuggeranong United from the ACT at 7.30pm on Tuesday in an FFA Cup Round-of-32 match.

I first met Michael Palmer, FFT’s new CEO, in 2003. He was working for UEFA at the time and we met for a coffee while he was back in his home town of Hobart

Here is a story I wrote about him at the time.

Football Federation Tasmania (FFT) today announced the appointment of Mike Palmer as Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Mr Palmer joins FFT with an impressive resume with experience in sports management from across the globe.

If this had been a boxing match, Tilford Zebras would have won on points because there was no knockout.

As a football match, it ended goalless and each side obtained a point, keeping South Hobart top of the Victory League standings and Tilford Zebras second, 6 points adrift.

South Hobart’s signing of Chris Hunt, Daniel Brown and Tom Roach was confirmed today by coach Ken Morton at a media conference at KGV Park.

All three players are former South Hobart players and may see action in the closing stages of the Victory League campaign and in the FFA Cup.

South Hobart coach Ken Morton said today that he is actively seeking a replacement goalkeeper for the club’s next two matches - the Victory League game against Northern Rangers next Saturday, and the FFA Cup match against Tuggeranong United on Tuesday, 5 August.

The quest for a replacement keeper follows the dismissal of current incumbent Kane Pierce in the final minute of Sunday’s Victory League 0-0 draw with Tilford Zebras.
