A teacher by profession, but is now in his 38th year as a football writer. Has written for "Soccer Action" (Melbourne), "Australian Soccer Weekly" (Sydney) and "World Soccer" (London), as well as for several Tasmanian newspapers. Currently contributing to "Goal!Weekly" in Melbourne and the Australian magazine "Soccer International". Played for Croatia-Glenorchy, Caledonians, Metro, Rapid and University in Tasmania, as well as in the United States of America. Coached University, Metro and Croatia-Glenorchy.

The Tasmanian Under-13 and Under-14 representative squads flew out of Hobart this morning bound for the national championships at Coffs Harbour in New South Wales.

Tasmania will compete in Group B in both age groups.

Defender Hugh Ludford was last night named as South Hobart’s best player of the 2012 season.

Ludford captained South Hobart this season as the club won their fifth Forestry Tasmania Southern Premier League title, and he was also captain of the Tasmanian team that lost 4-0 to Melbourne Victory before a record crowd at KGV Park in August.

Taroona have reappointed Andy Tye as their senior coach for the 2013 season.

Brent McKay has also been reappointed as Taroona’s women’s coach for 2013.

Football Federation Tasmania today released the format for the competitions below the Victory League.

Chris Hey will coach Glenorchy Knights in next year’s Victory League State-wide competition.

Although the club has not announced Hey’s appointment, it is the worst kept secret in town.

Knights held a players’ meeting last night at the Australian Croatian Club in Glenorchy.

Nick Cuthbertson won Kingborough Lions United’s senior players’ player and best-and-fairest award for the 2012 season at the club’s presentation dinner last night at the Southern Lights Hotel in Kingston.

Cuthbertson was presented with the George Arnott Medal.

Martin Farquhar was presented with the Bernie Siggins Medal as the best player in the reserves.

Todd Hingston won the George Dale Medal as the best-and-fairest player in the Forestry Tasmania Northern Premier League.

Hingston, from Northern Rangers, polled 20 votes at tonight’s awards dinner at the Country Club Casino, three more than his Rangers team-mate Chris Hunt and Devonport City’s Nathan Gratton.
