Fourth-placed Southern FC take on Southern League One leaders Derwent United at home at Sherburd Park at 2.30pm tomorrow in what should be an exciting and entertaining match.

It will take a good performance by Southern FC to dent the title aspirations of the league leaders.

New Town Eagles can regain top spot in the Forestry Tasmania Southern Premier League with a win over second-last Olympia Warriors away at Warrior Park at 8pm today.

Victory would put Eagles 2 points clear of current leaders South Hobart, but this would probably only last less than 24 hours as South Hobart should beat University away at Olinda Grove on Saturday and thus regain first place.

I went and watched a couple of Southern League One clubs train tonight and was pleasantly surprised.

The emphasis at both Beachside and Taroona was on technical skills and functional play.
